Releasing God's Divine In Our Lives

Aaron Cordeiro

Scripture
"Then Peter said, "Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk." Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man's feet and ankles became strong. He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God." (Acts 3:6-8)
Observation
Have you ever been put in situations that test your faith. Maybe on your way to church, or worse right after church, or Bible study. After we have learned about serving God better, and loving people more. Than an opportunity to do this arises and we are tested. Its at these moments in our lives that can release the Lord's divine promises. It's not always easy, because the tests dieing to my own desires, requires faith, even sacrifice at times. I think we all want to see God's divine promises released in our lives, I do, but there's still that wrestling that takes place. I don't wrestle if God asks me to do something that I already want to do, but it's the things that I don't really want to do, or feel capable of doing.

Peter and John were faced with the same situation that many of us would wrestle through, the area of giving. You see Peter and John were on their way to afternoon Prayer service (church). On the way they pass by a beggar that was crippled from life, and the cripple asked them for money. These guys aren't to smart... When I see needy people on the prowl for money, I look the other way, don't make eye contact, position myself in back of someone else walking so they get the guy in front of me first! Don't lie you do this to, or at least you think about it. You see this is the wrestle! Peter and John didn't strategize avoidance, they confronted need with faith. The scripture says "They looked at the beggar, and said we don't have money, but what we do have we'll give you."
Application
This is amazing they didn't give the man what they didn't have, but what they did have. They had the gift of faith, and they gave it away. The Bible speaks about divine gifts He gives every believer in situations like these. Gifts that increase our faiths capacity to see the divine released. Gifts of helping others, leadership, giving, mercy, hospitality, faith, discernment, knowledge, prophecy, exhortation, pasturing, teaching, apostleship, evangelism, miracles, healing, tongues, and interpretation of tongues. Every single one of us has been given gifts, and when we find out what it is, we may not have money, but we have something much more eternal to give. I often fear what I don't have or what I have little of, especially when the Lord asks me to give it away. The Lord would never ask us to give away anything we don't have, and He would never ask us to do something that wouldn't bring glory to His name.

I will look at testing situations differently from now on. I won't look at what I don't have, but start to look at what I do have to give away. Maybe a listening ear, time, encouragement, or maybe money.
Prayer
Dear Lord,

Thank you for helping me see testing situations clearer through the live of Peter and John. I don't have to feel uncomfortable in testing situations, because it may just be an opportunity to grow my faith, and see Your divine promises released in peoples lives. Amen
