A Prayer For My Heart and Mouth!

Rod Shimabukuro

Scripture
"May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer." (Psalm 19:14)
Observation
David's heart is authentic in a psalm where he asks for help in area of willful sins. He knows that God and His instructions will give him life.

There is a connection between the heart and the mouth. Although at times, my words may be pleasant but my heart not so pleasant. Other times, my heart longs to do His will and yet my mouth declares words of poison when I get tired, cranky and snappy.
Application
Today, I've blown it with my words and heart already. It's so easy for me to fly off the handle when I'm tired. I think I expect a lot from my family - a lot of understanding, care, love --- but when I have to "work" at home, reconciling financial issues, resolving little feuds and attitudes with the kids - when Beckie wants to "talk" and I want to "do MY thing" ---- my heart turns sour and my words spit out arrows that hurt my families soul.

I repent...AGAIN, Lord! I want to be different - change me.
I need to:
Be quiet, knowing that I'm cranky.
Communicate with grace and kindness.
Don't let the devil steal the rest of the day --- ask for forgiveness and enjoy this day. Like Eric said in his testimony at DCAT - "Everyday is a bonus!"
Prayer
Lord...May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer!
