A Night With Paul and Silas

Rod Shimabukuro

Scripture
"But Paul said to the officers: "They beat us publicly without a trial, even though we are Roman citizens, and threw us into prison. And now do they want to get rid of us quietly? No! Let them come themselves and escort us out." (Acts 16:37)
Observation
The courage and boldness of Paul amazes me. He and Silas are released from prison and he refuses to leave quietly - he requests special services to be escorted out!

Now this is after being whipped beaten, bound in stocks, singing praise to God in prison, experiencing the prison doors miraculously opened by an earthquake and their chains opened, saving a jailer from suicide, leading he and his family to Jesus, eating a meal and returning to prison!!!

Paul and Silas don't just run away, having been miraculously freed from their imprisonment - they return to jail - and when given the signal to be released, they refuse to leave!

Paul knew that the officials were afraid because they imprisoned Roman citizens without a fair trial.
Application
I'm just amazed at the character of Paul and Silas. Bold and fearless rambo's for God, doing His work at any cost.

This morning:
I'm, so grateful for being called to do His work.
I feel like a whimp compared to Paul and Silas - grumbling about my conditions of life, some petty circumstances and trials.
I desire to be tougher in heart and spirit as it relates to giving my best in adverse situations. I need to learn to press on with a better attitude and perspective. I need to have a vision of who I'm serving, why and the Big Purpose and Picture!
Don't run when the going gets tough - don't be a bail out when things aren't going "my way."
Prayer
I know You help whimps like me Lord! So forgive me for being a whimp when I face "difficult circumstances!" What's difficult for me is an opportunity for You to do Your service and ministry through me.
Help me not to be a bailer! But to be a bold witness to help jailers...come to know you...
