Sub Mission

Rick Beckett

"During the days of Jesus' life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of reverent submission." (Hebrews 5:8)
One of the biggest growth indicators as Christians is how well we submit. Anyone can raise their hands in a church service and sing songs to God, but submission is a higher form of worship to God. It is honoring Him by laying aside our agenda and trusting that He is in control. It is choosing to trust in God's ways more than our sight. It is genuine maturity in Christ.

David submitted to Saul even when he had the right to retaliate. Jesus submitted to the Father even when His flesh wanted another way. We see submission in Abraham, Paul, John the Baptist, Moses, etc. It it everywhere in God's word...

So why is submission so hard for us?

Because submission requires HUMILITY, and most of us don't want to look weak.
Ephesians 5:21 says, "Submit to on another out of reverence in Christ." I need to lay down pride or the fear of looking weak in front of others. The Bible tells me to submit out of love for Jesus. I need to have a faith that matures in submission lest I sing a good song but miss what real worship is all about.

And for the record...
Jesus wasn't afraid of appearing weak.
May I have a mature faith that submits to others out of a genuine love for you! In Jesus Name, Amen.
