A Warriors Evaluation

Rod Shimabukuro

"While they were stoning him, Stephen prayed, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit." Then he fell on his knees and cried out, "Lord, do not hold this sin against them." When he had said this, he fell asleep." (Acts 7:59-60)
Would this be the last prayer I prayed? the last words out of my mouth? In the face of death, being killed by those who hate, oppose Jesus and you? Falsely accused, Unjustly dealt with, yet, Stephen spoke from his heart, laid it on the line for the pharisees religious leaders - and paid for his boldness with death.
Here I go again - loving the warrior spirit, heart, uncompromising conviction of Stephen! I am full of questions for my own soul -
  • Do I have a boldness to tell others about God?
  • Am I willing to die for my faith?
  • Do I have the guts to stand up for God, His truth, His heart, His ways - in the face of opposition.
  • Am I willing to look like a fool for Jesus?
  • Would I pray as Stephen did - for my enemies that stone me with words, attitudes? I'm not even suffering.

Taking this kind of evaluation on my own heart is very humbling?

I want to go for it - to go for God!!! I don't want to be wishy-washy, luke warm, vomit in His sight. I don't want to live for myself, be so self centered - God...I'm furious about You - now help me to live that way!!!

I hate my compromising flesh when I give in to it's ways - Why do I give in so often?
I come back to Your cross, the image of Your sacrifice for me - when I hurt You with my compromise, disobedience - when I stone my family with my carnal, sinful attitudes - God thanks again and again and again - for Your mercy, love, forgiveness, strength!!! I am a new creation - Thanks for the new starts everyday, today - even throughout the day!!!
