Final Instructions

Tim Savage

"Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong. And do everything with love." (1 Corinthians 16:13-14)
There is great value in final instructions. All of the important teaching is boiled down to its most essential, its most vital. It's kind of like when Pastor Wayne says, "If you only remember one thing this morning, remember this..." Of course, all of the instructions are important, but, "if you don't catch anything else, catch this..."

Here are Paul's final instructions to the church of God in Corinth. We should take note of what he decided is most important: vigilance over false prophets, a firm faith, courage and strength in times of testing and love for God and one another. If this is what Paul feels is imperative and central for us as Christians, then I need to listen closely to his final instructions and apply them to my everyday life.
I must guard my heart mind and soul for anything that will sway my devotion to God, family and ministry. The enemy will attack in ways both expected and unexpected, he is clever and I need to watchful. I must have a growing relationship with Jesus Christ to include daily devotions. I need to steel myself for future battles, setbacks and disappointments because it's not if we will be attacked, it's when we will be attacked. And finally, in all of the busyness and task of our ministry and lives I must intentionally love those around me and love God first and foremost.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Help me to grow in to the man that You would like me to be. Forgive me when I fall short. May I please You with my thoughts and actions today.

In Jesus name,
