Guard Your Treasures

Anna Cordeiro

Scripture
"When the Lord saw that they humbled themselves, this word of the Lord came to Shemaiah: "Since they have humbled themselves, I will not destroy them but will soon give them deliverance. My wrath will not be poured out on Jerusalem through Shishak. They will, however, become subject to him, SO THAT THEY MAY LEARN THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SERVING ME AND SERVING THE KINGS OF OTHER LANDS." (2 Chronicles 12:7-8)
Observation
Israel had been attacked by the king of Egypt and all their treasures that Solomon had gathered were carried off. (2 Chronicles 12:9) "When Shishak king of Egypt attacked Jerusalem, he carried off the treasures of the temple of the Lord and the treasures of the royal palace. He took everything including the gold shields Solomon had made."

They humbled themselves but the Lord was going to show them the difference between serving Him and serving the kings of other lands.
Application
I thought about our country and how far from God it seems to be getting. The thought struck me about the lesson God wanted to teach Israel. "So they may learn the difference between serving Me and serving the kings of their lands."

It seems to me in this country, our treasures are already being carried off to "kings of other lands."
  1. Prayer in public is looked down on.
  2. Going to church has become a place of style and fads rather than a place of worship.
  3. Our children are being swayed by the morals of television, and no longer the morals of the Bible.
  4. Our country which was founded upon God's principles and morals is being subject to "Fads", and morals of the world. It is faddish to be a person of a different religion such as ... It is considered politically correct to embrace other religions. We must remember, God wants us to LOVE PEOPLE, but not what they do if it goes against His word. We don't have to take their sin and embrace it.
We must guard these precious treasures that God has given us, otherwise we will be carried away to know what it is like to serve "kings of other lands." We must humble ourselves from our wicked ways so that God will restore us, and give back our children to walk in His ways, and lead our country well. We must return to true worship, the worship of our one and only TRUE KING, THE KING OF KINGS, OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST OUR SAVIOR.
Prayer
Lord forgive us -- help us to guard our treasures and serve only you. Help us humble ourselves from our wicked ways that our treasures You have given us will be restored. Let us never take for granted the treasures that are so important:

Freedom to worship You.
Sharing your precious word that others may know you.
Our precious children.
Our wonderful country that many died to preserve.

In Your name, Amen.
