Water Is On Its Way

Wayne Cordeiro

"When all the congregation of the sons of Israel journeyed by stages from the wilderness of Sin, according to the command of the LORD, and camped at Rephidim, and there was no water for the people to drink." (Exodus 17:1)
At the command of the Lord, they camped, but there was not water to drink. You'd think that if God commanded, there'd be immediately plenty of water, a buffet line and waiters who will bring you coffee and desert. You'd think that if God had planned it, all the logistics would have been taken into consideration and a catering company would be waiting for us as we arrived.
No! There will be times, even though the Lord leads me that I will find myself with sparse resources. Not enough money. Not enough help. Not enough encouragement. But it doesn't mean that God is not in it.

I can react by prematurely coming to wrong conclusions and in doing so, I can make the desert a hotter place that it needs to be. But God is not finished yet... And maybe you're like me ... when being patient comes hard when you are thirsty after a long trek.

However, I am learning to process privately so I can be patient publicly.

And think about it ... God had water stored in a rock! No, not the most obvious place where water would be expected to come from. We'd look for a nearby stream, an artesian well, or a bottled water truck.

But how often, from a source we least expect, God provides. He did back then, and He will again today!
Lord, thank you for helping me to understand that just because there is no water, it doesn't mean that You haven't led us there. I will wait on You and curb my thirst in knowing that You still have more to come. Please keep reminding me of this.

In Jesus' Name.
