For who He is, not for what He does

Rod Shimabukuro

"But I, by your great mercy, will come into your house; in reverence will I bow down toward your holy temple." (Psalm 5:7)
David reveals his hearts struggles with his enemies and write of his dependence upon God's character. God is trustworthy, righteous, faithful - He is fair and dependable! His hearts response is to be exampled.

Too often, I approach God in a demanding way, barging into His presence with cares, needs, wants and desires, but I lack reverence. It's as if God is to serve me at every call I make, to be ready to meet my needs whenever I need Him to. It's not that He minds me barging into His presence like this, but when I feel like my kids want me for what I can give them rather than for who I am as their daddie, it bothers my heart.

I don't want my relationship with God to be based on what He can do or does for me. I want God to know that I love Him for who He is!
God did a lot - mega, big time, tons...of great deeds at our Doing Church as a Team conference!! The list of the great deeds of God are innumerable! Considering EVERYTHING that went into preparing, planning and putting on this conference AND EVERY PERSON jumping in "Jesus Heart" first - my response before God is:

"By Your great mercy, I approach You this morning. Your presence is holy, love, joy - Your presence is awe-majestic!!!! And in absolute reverence, humility and honor, I bow down toward You, to worship, thank, adore You - for who You are!!!! - and thank You for all the great deeds You've done in and through Your church at our conference."

I am different, changed for the better this morning, as I choose to worship God the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit for who He is - the Godhead 3 in 1.
Dear Daddie...of all Your children at New Hope and churches represented at the conference,
Please bless all of our mighty warriors, the volunteers of New Hope, their lives, families, relationships, health, finances - bless them with You presence and strengthen EVERY HEART who gave of their lives to You, through their service at our conference!!!

May the fruit of our labors be blessed by Your Spirit and advance Your Kingdom. Strengthen Your church to make disciples of all nations, reaching generations with Your gospel!!
