Possessed by God

Rod Shimabukuro

"For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But if anyone does not have them, he is nearsighted and blind, and has forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins. (2 Peter 1:5-9)
UNBELIEVABLE! This passage says it all as I relate to Pastor Randy's message this past weekend! Make me Holy...Lord! Knowing that I cannot be holy apart from the grace of God, I can walk in holiness as I walk in the forgiveness Jesus offers, cleansing me of every sin.

The life of holiness is a choice. One choice has already been made. The choice that God made to reconcile me, to make me holy through the work of the cross and resurrection of Christ!

The other choice, I must make. It's the decision to make every effort to add to my faith in Christ. To add the qualities of godliness and being possessed by God!
The results of my choice to make every effort to discipline my mind, heart and will to live a godly and holy life, will be an effective and productive relationship with Jesus.

I want to choose differently today by:
  1. Not being flippant about flipping through channels on my tv set. I must watch carefully what I allow my eyes to see and thoughts to be stirred by.
  2. Adding to my faith - SELF CONTROL...especially with my quick/rash responses at home. C'mon Rod - you know better so LIVE BETTER!
  3. Think about being possessed by God and the Holy Spirit. He has filled You and He owns you...through Jesus. With this in mind, I will not allow other thoughts of my flesh to wander and possess me.
Dear Holy Spirit -
Thanks for making me holy through forgiveness and the Father's holiness. Help me to live a godly life in thought, heart, motive, mouth and life. I choose to be possessed by You...You are holiness in me. Thanks for living in me Holy-Holy Spirit!
