To Love or to Leave You?

Rod Shimabukuro

"Peter asked, "Lord, why can't I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you." Then Jesus answered, "Will you really lay down your life for me? I tell you the truth, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times!" (John 13:37-38)
Can I actually disown God? It is Jesus who will never leave me or forsake me - but do I have the guts to leave or live for Jesus? I'm definitely no better than Peter, which leads me to believe that I can be a wimp, whiner and loser, under the right circumstances.

I love Peter's feisty attitude and staunch ways as Jesus disciple. Through all of Peter's experiences: Jesus washing his feet, the Passover and betrayal - Peter was still caught between his love for Jesus and the hinderance of his weakness to abandon his commitment to Jesus.
Like Peter, I can talk a good Christ committed talk - but what about following through with my commitment when I'm weak, tired, feel spent and ready to throw in the towel?

I find my heart, thoughts, mouth - in love with Jesus. It's too true that when I'm faced with being a bold witness in my community - at stores, around people that God gives me opportunity to plant seeds of His love - I forsake Him - I disown Him.

I find myself abandoning a heart of humility when I encounter "proud people", kids who are "right", whiners and grumblers...

Life choices I need to apply today:
  1. Don't live under condemnation when I fail Jesus. Ask for forgiveness, grace, strength and wisdom to learn through my failures.
  2. Don't abandon humility - keep a humble mind and heart - and back away from argumentative attitudes.
Thanks God...for laying down Your life for me - for never leaving me or disowning me! Please help me to live for You and I hope I can lay down my life in complete surrender at all times. Thank You for forgiving me and being a great Friend to me!! You are my EVERYTHING!!!
