Deep Convictions but Shallow Life

Rod Shimabukuro

"Jesus said to the people who believed in him, "You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." (John 8:31-32)
It is written that there were Jews who believed in Jesus, yet they had not moved into becoming His disciples having questioned His teachings. They seemed to have a difficult time reconciling their understanding and belief in Jesus as God in relationship to the God of Abraham, their father.

Disciples will follow and adhere to Jesus' life and teachings, not just believe in Him being sent from God, as God's Son. Shallow Christianity - is there such a thing? It seems that shallow faith does not mean we are disciples who are following His teachings, ways and life. I don't want to live a shallow life!
Today, I am challenged to be a leader and pastor who follows Jesus in heart, instruction and life. Sometimes I find myself caught and tangled in a net of believing in Jesus, knowing He is Savior and Lord, yet I can so easily live life going through some Christian "motions." I know the answers for others, yet my own deep convictions remain deep in my heart and my faithfulness to His teachings are shallow. Deep Convictions - Shallow YUK is that!!!

I will believe differently by not accepting the standard of living beneath God's potential for my life. I must obey His teachings by responding to live out the deep convictions He's given me.

My obedience will bring honor to God!
Dear Daddie God! Help me to live out the convictions You've imparted into my heart. I want my life to reflect Your Word and teachings! I'm getting tired of my "little hypocrisies" in life!! I want You - I need You - I love You!!
