Interrupted by God's plan

January 24 // 1 Corinthians 8:20-21

Scripture
"And then he said to them, 'O foolish men and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! Was it not necessary for the Christ to suffer these things and to enter into His glory?'" Luke 24:25-26
Observation
At this time, two men were walking down the road discussing the crucifixion event when Jesus appeared before them. Though they could not recognize Him, for He had a new glorified body. The men even sort of criticized him for not being updated on the daily news. Jesus asked them what the fuss was all about, and they explained to Him the events circulating around the crucifixion. I often wondered why He does this. I mean the first time He appears in His new glorified body, He asks two guys just walking down the street to explain to Him what happened. But I think maybe it was to see if they had realized what happened. Obviously it wasn't for Jesus' benefit to be immersed in the latest gossip, but it was for Him to see if the men had fully understood what had happened, that Jesus is the Messiah, He was the chosen one. But they didn't understand, they couldn't see Him because they didn't fully believe.
Application
I've read this story countless times and I never understood Jesus' actions. But I'm starting to see why He prompts us to look at things deeper. I think God wants us to see the things He is doing, to understand why He does them. Sometimes it may appear like were just suffering for no reason and nothing good could ever come from the situation. But if we just plugged into God and our hearts were ready to believe in God's will then we could understand why He does the things He does. Just like in the scriptures these two men were kind of distressed and confused about the crucifixion of Jesus, but if they only believed in Him and all that the prophets spoke then they would fully understand that Christ had to suffer in order for Him to become the world's Savior. Most of the time, we're often confused and distressed about why things are happening to us. Why O God does it always have to happen to me?! But if just stopped within the chaos and just looked towards God, and wholeheartedly believed then things will start to make sense. I always have to remember to just trust God. Even when things are going the complete opposite way I want my life to go, it's still vital to have a believing heart and eyes to see.

Prayer
Lord, thank you for this understanding. I never really got why you would question those men, but you wanted to see if they understood you. I pray that you are always with me. That no matter what situation arises, I always have a faithful heart and that you will help me pull through it; even if that means enduring something that is terrible and makes me suffer. Lord I know your good and I know you love me. Thank you will all my heart.
