"And now says the Lord, who formed me from the womb to be his servant . . . Behold, I have inscribed you on the palms of my hands; your walls are continually before me . . . those who hopefully wait for me will not be put to shame"
God has a unique relationship with His people. It is one He continually seeks to develop and cultivate growth and life.
Yet like Israel, my committment to Him often is tempermental. In fact, Ps 106 characterizes Me at times: "They quickly forgot His works, they did not wait for His counsel, But craved intensely in the wlderness, and tempted God in the desert" (Ps 106:13,14)
Even though I fit like a glove into the assessment of Ps 106, its a relief to know that God knew all this about ME before I was conceived in the womb, yet He still called ME!
He is so devoted to us, that He pictures it as one whose hand has been punctured with our name, and He watches over our lives continually without ceasing.
My response to this? He calls me to "wait" for Him, to trust Him and have confidence in what He is doing in my life.
Waiting for Him becomes a time of: REFLECTION - of where I am at; REMEMBERING - of how far He has brought me; RESTORING - my daily relationship with Him; RENEWING - my committment and vision for His cause.
When the road seems mysterious and different, when the way seems risky and untravelled - I remember, that your leading has begun even before I was born!
Lord, You are so faithful, there is nothing that You have allowed in my life that has been haphazard. You are working to your plan, and even my shortcomings are working to your glory and praise!
