October 31 // 1 Corinthians 8:20-21

Scripture
25As Paul discoursed on righteousness, self-control and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and said, "That's enough for now! You may leave. When I find it convenient, I will send for you." 26At the same time he was hoping that Paul would offer him a bribe, so he sent for him frequently and talked with him.

27When two years had passed, Felix was succeeded by Porcius Festus, but because Felix wanted to grant a favor to the Jews, he left Paul in prison. Acts 24:25-27
Observation
As paul was in front of Felix, giving an account of what he was doing. he was sharing what God was doing. And it seems that it made Felix very uncomfortable, so he told Paul to stop talking and when it was convenient for him to hear God's word, he would send for Paul. It took several years for Paul to be summoned back to the king. It seemes that Felix did not want to hear God's word and only when he flet like it or when he needed to hear God's word, he would summon Paul to speak God's word. How often we do the same for God. How we only go to church, read the bible, and even obey God when we feel like it or when it is convenient for us. We caanot serve God this way. We have to be faithful, committed, and obedient to Him.
Application
Do i serve God only when I feel like it? Do i obey god only when I need to? I need to realize that we cannot serve God when it is convenient for me, I cannot give the excuses "I am too busy for God" or "only when it's convenient for me". When it comes to serving God, he is looking for one thing. Hearts that are fully committed, surrendered, and obedient to Him. God wants me to faithful to His word and to serve Him 24/7. When I serve God out of convenience, I will find my walk with God going cold and stale. My relationship with God will turn to religon, and I will not be intimate with Him. I need to serve God because I want to and because I love Him and want a relationship with Him. I will serve God with all my heart, soul, mind and strength.
Prayer
Heavenly Father thank you for your word. I ask you to help me serve with with all that i am. help me never to serve you out of convenience, but a heart that is fully surrendered to you. In Jesus name. Amen
