Acts 12: 5
“So Peter was kept in the prison, but prayer for him was being made fervently by the church to God.”
The church, (new) in many ways did the only thing it knew how to do, it prayed! Fervently. In James, it says, “the effectual fervent prayer of the righteous man avails much.” When we understand the power behind prayer the question becomes, “what other kind of prayer is there?”
Prayer needs to become a way of life for us as Christians, our first resort, not the last. Fervency is how we bring our requests before His throne, showing passion and desire towards the one who laid down His life. When our heart’s recognize that God is all knowing, all powerful and able to handle anything we bring before Him, its than our heart's burn within us creating an atmosphere of faith and expectation. And when that happens we set the stage for answered prayer.
Father, thank you for the great privilege in approaching your throne. I pray that the desires of your heart would find their way into ours and together we can see them come to pass for your glory.
