" . . . having been forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the Word in Asia . . . they were trying to go into Bythinia, and the Spirit of Jesus did not permit them"
Tis was part of Paul's 2nd missionary journey. He was well into his evangelical work, had a new firebrand named Timothy at his disposal, and as he tried to launch out into Asia, the Spirit of God said, "no!", so Paul follows God's leading in spite of the dissappointment.
Its quite an experience to hear God say, 'Come, I have called you here for this opportunity'. Its quite another to hear him say, 'wait'.
But when He forbids and says, 'no', then you know that He has other plans He wants fulfilled, and that irks us a bit because we dont really understand what He's up to or comprehend the reasons why.
Phillip was told to GO to the desert in Gaza (Acts 8), and an opportunity suddenly swung open for Africa to receive the gospel;
Jairius was DELAYED, but when Jesus finally did act, his daugther's revival sparked faith and hope in that circle; Paul was told NO not here, and as he followed the Spirit's leading, a woman's heart was opened, and a prison guard's life and family were transformed forever!
God's no does not mean He has put us aside or forgotten our dreams, it just means He has a far more glorious pathway set out for us, and the results of walking on it are far more fulfilling and rewarding!
When the Spirit of God says, 'no', and I follow that leading, my next step on the journey will unfold before my eyes, and I will see why I was led so.
Father, thankyou for the reminder, that when I choose to listen and follow your leading, it is the best choice to go with. I cannot see the whole picture like you can, so I trust and hold your by faith to the next opportunity!
