Walking the Walk

December 26 // 1 Corinthians 8:20-21

Ps. 119:133

“Establish my footsteps in You word, And do not let any iniquity have dominion over me.”

What does it mean to be established in something? Take for example Steven Spielberg a famous movie director, he is well known, recognized and respected by most people for the movies he works on. People expect a certain quality from a Spielberg film. My guess, is that it took more then one or two flops before he became the film director he is today.

I think its the same way with God’s word in our lives. The more time and energy we spend in knowing God’s word and putting it to action, the more established our footsteps become. It doesn’t happen over night, like anything it takes time, but the rewards are so much greater than an Oscar from the academy.

In my life God has shown me the way to freedom by establishing me in His word. Freedom from the dominion or the control of sin has been a reward given to me by the Lord! Its amazing the way He changes my heart when it starts to trail of the path He has established for my feet. Sometimes, we don’t even realize how an attitude or hurt feelings can begin to distort things. In His faithfulness He sees though the things that trip us up and makes them known to us. So that we can then, come before our loving Father and be cleansed from iniquity that wants dominion. He saves us over and over again, not just once but continually.

Your Word is a lamp to my feet and your ways are my delight. Establish my coming in and going out that I might be a light to others. Forgive me for any misguided thoughts or inordinate affections, and thank you for your steady hand as it guides me on the path you have chosen for me.

To your word I commit my heart,
Love, Gail
