"What are your multiplied sacrifices to Me? Says the Lord. I have had enough . . . "(Is 1:11)
The prophet beginshis messages to Judah and Jerusalem, and sums up the relationship His people have with Him: "An ox knows its owner, And a donkey its master's manger, But Israel does not know, My people do not understand" (Is 1:3)
God has had enough with sins of His people, and the prophet warns of impending judgement!
The passage is a heart-cry from a God who desires relationship with His own that is sincere, real and alive - He wants this from . . . Me.
All the acts of ministry, all the prayers made, all the sacrifices carried out, all the events aatended in His name - God detests it all, if He hasn't got Myfull attention, My full surrender, My full obedience!
This is why Paul wrote: "Be filled with the Spirit" (Eph 5:18) Its a command to simply let God be God in My life, all areas, by the work of the Holy Spirit.
All that I do, everything I am involved in, all my input into others must come from a relationship with Him that is living, right and transparent!
When He is first in ME, everything else I do for Him will be effective and acceptable.
Lord, thankyou for showing me this morning that you just want to cultivate a sincere relationship with You on a daily basis. Thankyou for reminding me that what Ido always springs from who Iam . . . in You.
Please dont let the ox and donkey lead me in honouring my master!
