"The boy became so hungry that even the pods he was feeding the pigs looked good to him. But no one gave him anything"
Some of us know this story in Luke 15:11-32 as the prodigal son. A son who left with his inheritance and squandered it away, then returns home to be fully accepted and loved by his father. Awesome! lesson.
Did you know there are many more gems to be mined from this same parable?
In Luke 15:16 as the boy is feeding the pigs is another gem that can be mined. Here the boy is in the world, as we are everyday, the biggest difference is he was not connected to his FATHER. He was HUNGRY searching for food, but everywhere he looked no one would, or better, no one could feed him what he needed. Just like the boy, if we leave our father we WILL become hungry, not just physically, but spiritually.
I need to stay connected to my Heavenly Father daily through my daily devotions, and meditation on his word. It is when I am perfectly still, that I am able to receive my Fathers direction, instruction, encouragement, and even correction. It is this time with him that I value the most at this season in my life. I need to stay connected.
"Dear Father: Thank you for sending us the Holy Spirit to help us recognize your voice. Thank you for providing us your word to guide us through the world daily. Lord, I pray for everyone reading this, that they may be strengthened by your word, and guided by your wisdom. In your Sons name Jesus Christ, our Lord and our Savior. Amen"
