Say "NO" To Temptation!!!!!

October 7 // 1 Corinthians 8:20-21

On the seventh day, when King Xerxes was in high spirits from wine, he commanded the seven eunuchs who served him—Mehuman, Biztha, Harbona, Bigtha, Abagtha, Zethar and Carcas-to bring before him Queen Vashti, wearing her royal crown, in order to display her beauty to the people and nobles, for she was lovely to look at. But when the attendants delivered the king's command, Queen Vashti refused to come. Then the king became furious and burned with anger. Esther 1:10-12
When King Xerxes was drunk with wine, he ordered Queen Vashti to dance for him and all his friends, the quess refused. Although ths amde the king mad at her. But the queen stood her ground. It maybe the custom for women not to dance in public, but Queen Vashti did not fall to temptation or peer pressure. She knew that it was wrong for her to dance for the king and in public. Even she had the possibility to face harsh consequences by King Xerxes, Queen Vashti took a risk and did what was right. Queen Vashti was put in a difficult position, but she still knew what to do in the face of temptation. We can learn from the queen that in the midst of temptation and peer pressure we can and need to stand up for what is right and honor God with our choices.
Do I fall into temptation and/or peer pressure? I need to realize that when face with temptation I have a choice to give in to peer pressure or do what is right and honor God. In a society where everyone does what other people tell them, nobody knows right from wrong and I have to take stands of faith and do what is right according to the word of God. Even if it means being ridiculed, punished, and rejected; I have to choose to stand for God and choose righteousness. I will choose to honor God and do what is right.

Heavenly Father thank you for your word. I ask you to help me do what is right and not give in to temptation or peer pressure. I want to honor you in my life. In Jesus name. Amen.
