September 18 // 1 Corinthians 8:20-21

"If they are ashamed of all that they have done, make known to them the design of the house, its structure, its exits, its entrances, all its designs, all its statutes, and all its laws And write it in their sight, so that they may observe its whole design and all its statutes and do them. This is the law of the house: its entire area on the top of the mountain all around shall be most holy. Behold, this is the law of the house.” Ezekiel 42:11,12.

What an amazing task Ezekiel was given. Through a vision he not only saw the structure of the temple, but also, the beauty of its holiness. “If they are ashamed of all they have done, make known to them the design of the house…” It seems to me that God required a heart of repentance before anyone was given the ability to behold the beauty of His holiness. Comprehension of certain truth in God’s word can be unclear, making application difficult. Jesus tell us more than once, “He who has eyes to see and ears to hears listen to what the Spirit is saying.” How than do we obtain eyes to see? For man’s weakness is doubt and unbelief. We would rather see before we believe, but this brings our faith to a dead stop.

Therefore, it is my job to seek repentance daily, sometimes hourly. Whatever it takes to keep my heart clean before Him I will do. And, in doing so, He rewards me with eyes to see and ears to hears the beauty of His holiness. Here, in the beauty of His Holiness I find I am enabled to Observe the ways of God and Do them. This is the fear of Lord. If we find we are traveling at a snails pace and feel forced to creep along, it could be that our own heart has impeded our faith.

I desire to behold your beauty often and always. This requires much travail at times but I have learned the pain is worth it. I must not grow weary in well doing for I am rewarded with your Presence and Holiness; two ingredients for a great faith. In your presence I am humbled as I should be, so finding the ability to live for you alone. Thank you. In awe I lift my life up, I recognize my life is yours to do with it as you please.
