Luke 3:22 "And the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased."
One of my mentors just published a book called "And 1". This is a must read. In the chapter titled.. "All Of This For Three Little Words" it talks about a girl he and his wife adopted. The little girl had been abused, burned, and she was missing part of her skull. His wife said that she was beaten up and bruised and didn't know if there was perhaps even some brain damage. When she was brought home, she would not let anyone touch her but his wife. He said that he would go to bed many nights with her screaming, kicking and biting just to wake up the next morning with her still screaming, kicking and biting.
Finally after about six months of battling her past, she began to slowly ease up a bit. The tantrums all though very violent became less and less. His wife had to go out of town on a speaking engagement and he would have to put her to bed. He said he braced for the worse... To his surprise she went to bed without much drama. Until she looked at him and ask the question "Where is Mommy?"
He knew it was too good to be true. He was about to be in a nuclear war. He tucked her in and pulled the covers over her shoulders, turned out the light AND THEN IT HAPPENED! She said..."DADDY, I LOVE YOU"
When I read that.. I lost it. Even though I read this over a week ago, writing this now makes be know how much I missed, not only someone telling me they loved me. But I lost part of my soul by not having a Daddy that I could say to them. Daddy I love You.
BUT I DO. Even though I was adopted and had 3 step dads that were mean and abusive to me. When I turned 18 I was adopted again by a Father that loves me and not only tells me over and over, but showed me as well. Ephesians 1:5 says... "God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure."nlt
Father thank you for loving me and adopting me into Your family. There is not much else I can say except. DADDY, I LOVE YOU.
