He Hears Even His Rejectors

September 4 // 1 Corinthians 8:20-21

2 Kings 13:1-5
King Jehoahaz of Israel did what his fathers did - evil in the eyes of the Lord. Yet when he saw his kingdom being stripped little by little, he cried out to the Lord. The Lord rescued them. Because of his great love and compassion even for these people who did not follow his ways completely, he saved them and they lived at peace once again.
The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. He hears us when we humble our hearts, even when we walk far away from him. This is good news. Yet why discover his love and compassion through his rescuing hand when we can know it daily as we walk with Him? He hears the cry of the humble, even those who have rejected him. How much better to know he hears us when we come daily to his throne and receive His grace in due season.
Lord, may I not have to learn to honor and worship you by crying out in my struggles. May my heart know your favor daily as I learn to kneel at your throne and proclaim you as king. Amen.
