Wash Your Face

May 25 // 1 Corinthians 8:20-21

I Kings 11:4 For it was so, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned his heart after other gods; and his heart was not loyal to the Lord his God, as was the heart of his father David.
How could this be, that Solomon, in his old age could be lured away from faithfulness to God? The wisest of men who wrote about and counseled others, is now ensnared by the same sin. I wonder if it is easier to see the weaknesses of others than to see it in me?
A sobering lesson on my 27th spiritual birthday. Let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall. What do I do to stay constant, to be faithful to God, to remain on course? By reading the bible and talking to Him everyday…regardless of the circumstances…rain, shine, vog, grouchy, or thankful. It’s a spiritual washing of my face so that my perspective is His and I am ready for the day. Some days I mess up, some days I soar, mostly I try to keep my walk with Jesus consistent.
Thank you Jesus, help me to remain faithful to You into my old age…washing my face daily (washing of the water of the Word). Reading the bible, journaling, and talking to you so that moment by moment, day by day, line upon line, precept upon precept, my choices glorify Your name. Amen.
