The True House of Worship

May 19 // 1 Corinthians 8:20-21

The house which I am about to build will be great for greater is our God than all the gods. But who is able to build a house for Him, for the heavens cannot contain Him? So who am I that I should build a house for Him, except to burn incense before Him. 2 Chronicles 2:5-6
Solomon, with King Davids planning and provision, set out to build the greatest temple to God ever built. But the sillyness of the undertaking hit him like a brick. A house made with hands for te God of creation? Silly. Solomon recognized that this temple would serve as a reminder of who he served and who Israel served. It would be a place that they could gather to worship the King of kings and the LORD of Lords. When men from other lands laid eyes on this temple they would be astounded first at it's exterior then at the devotion the people showed to the God who blessed this nation beyond measure. It would be aplace that inspired men to give their hearts and souls over to the God of Heaven. Wise king Solomon knew it was a place to worship the true King.
Whether in a cafeteria or a cathedral Church is a place set aside to worship God. It is a place that believers gather in concert to worship. When our hearts and minds recognize the significance of the exercise a beautiful thing happens and God, in the name of Jesus Christ, is blessed by His children. When we lift our voices, our hands, our hearts in song and in praise, it is like the sweet incense Solomon burnt in the temple. It rises up before the King in His throne room and like the Pslamist wrote - God inhabits the praises of His people. Blessings begin to flow forth from Him and we are blessed, feeling His good pleasure in us. It becomes a place of refuge, of healing and of strength. What's even greater? we have become the very temple of God because Christ dwells within us! Hallelujah! Now, right now, we can lift praise to Him where we are at, we can worship Him in Spirit and in Truth and He will receive it. Therefore, knowing that we have become the temple of the Holy Spirit I can worship God every minute and live in His presence all the time.
Heavenly Father, Please receive my praise where ever I may be. Be glorified in my life, in my praise to you. I desire that Your presence be magnified through my praise and worship of you. Be glorified in my life Lord. In Jesus name I pray. Amen
