The Light Of The World

December 23 // 1 Corinthians 8:20-21

"One thing I do know, I was blind but now I see."
John chapter 9 records the story of a man who was blind from birth. Jesus commanded him to wash in the pool of Siloam and as a result of the man's obedience, he received his sight. After being questioned repeatedly by the unbelieving relious leaders, the man simply gave his testimony that Jesus was the source of his new sight, a truth that completely eluded the educated teachers of the law.
Jesus states that He is "The Light Of The World" and warns against living in spiritual darkness.
This simple man whom Jesus healed was unqualified as a teacher of the law but he knew what Jesus had done for him. He was a powerful witness in the face of criticism and even persecution. He refused to be intimidated by the efforts of the pharisees to discredit him. Like the blind man, we don't need to be ashamed to share our personal experience and testimony of what the Lord has done in our lives when given the opportunity. If we feel threatened and our faith is under attack let us be strong and with confidence affirm the things we know to be true.
Lord, we thank You for the Light of Your Salvation through Your Son Jesus. Amen.
