S-Luke 13:51-Do you suppose I came to grant peace on earth? I tell you, no, but rather division;
O- Jesus is speaking of division amongst families, but how many times do we see division within ourselves? We sometimes feel divided between decisions we know God wants us to make, and and what our own desires tempt us to do. This is the spiritual battles that we all will face. The daily battle between what God wants for us and and what we think we can do better.
A-So, how do I overcome this war? God's telling me He wants and needs me to be divided... divided from my past, from greed, from envy, and most of all, from myself. As I grow in Christ, I'm slowly (and sometimes painfully) learn that God can't work in and through my life if I'm so caught up in my own desires and plans. And since I don't have the will to separate from myself, He will bring division within myself, by showing and teaching me that His ways are better than mine, and that His purposes and plans (though I may not always understand them) are far greater than I ever could imagine. Being obedient and consistent in His word will be the key to overcoming the obstacles I tend to place on this eternal road. There's going to be lots of side streets, but only one highway to God's heart.
P- Lord, may my life be a true reflection of your love for me. As you divide my flesh from my spirit, and continue to grow me, I ask that you forgive me when I get stubborn. May your ways become mine, and may your spirit become the root of my heart. In Jesus name... Amen!
