Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Observation: Jesus is the Alpha and Omega—He knows us from the end to the beginning.
Application: As my ministry leader was praying one day below the tent, he said that “God already sees us in our glorified state.” A sob escaped my lips as the Holy Spirit confirmed that statement in my spirit.
Pastor Wayne explained in a message once that when a car engineer builds a car, he already knows what it is going to look like. He sees the finished product or has already designed the finished product.
Similarly, Jesus already sees us perfect--without flaws, without defects—our state of being when we get to Heaven. And when we get to know Him, the Holy Spirit works with us and through us to make us more like Jesus and more as to whom He created us to be.
Though we all need fixing, Pastor Rod said in a mid-week service once, God came because He loves us and desires a relationship with us.
Father God, thank You for coming into our lives. I know You have done this because You love us unconditionally. I know that You already see me in my “glorified state” and you see me with all my flaws now. You know where I need to get; You know what my inheritance in Christ is and You desire the best for me—in this life and in Heaven. My prayer is that I cooperate with your Holy Spirit so that I become more like You. Please be patient with me, Lord, on the days I don't feel like budging and when I start to stray, Lord, hit me on the head with a 2x4. Keep a short leash on me that I may not get lost...In Jesus' name, Amen.
