March 21 // 1 Corinthians 8:20-21

“All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be mastered by anything.” 1 Cor. 6:12

Here, Paul explains that our bodies have been bought with a price for the glory of God. We have been set apart for His use and good pleasure. We are no longer our own. Is it any wonder why we struggle with weakness and failure when we compare our lives to these verses'? What we allow to master us is what we become a slave to.

When I came to Christ many moons ago, I came because I wanted more than what the world had to offer me. I wasn’t broken down from drugs or messed up by wrong relationships. I was quite happy-go-luck. I had a lot going for me at twenty-two except one thing... Satisfaction! What an illusion, I thought. Everyone is running around on a fast tract going nowhere. I wanted no part of it and started looking for a way out. I came to Christ on my own after receiving a bible from my grandfather the Christmas of 1981. From the first day of my conversion to Christ I could feel God around me….I knew, He was the one that could satisfy me. So my search continued, my next step, find a church find God. After a long and winding road filled with trial and err I can honestly say I didn’t always find God at church and that was frustrating.

“Now God has not only raised the Lord, but will also raise us up through His power.” 1 Cor. 6:14

Today, I realize, God wasn’t gone from church those times I felt lost. He wasn’t on some exotic vacation I couldn't afford… No, it was me. I had taken back some part of my life from His control and gave it away. Having no right to take back–I paid the price of slavery.

If we want the power to be witnesses for Christ we need to give back to God all that belongs to Him; mind, body, soul, and spirit. He’ll take us back, fill us up, and set us on our feet again. Only this time we’ll be different…. Modeled for His glory!

Dear Jesus,
I now live my life with the knowledge that you alone can satisfy. Because I give myself to you daily I can now love others without hidden expectations. Its not always easy being vulnerable, I can still get hurt. I’m yours Lord and your power in me seems to wash the hurts away…. Your so amazing! Fill your people with the power to be in love with you! Its not hard to do when we finally let go of the old chains that bid us up. May I give you great pleasure today and my future bring you glory. I am so in Love! Gail
