" Now, therefore, it was not you who sent me here, but God . . . " (Gen 45:8)
Joseph could not contain himself any longer, after listening to the pleas of Judah for Benjamin's life and the life of their father Jacob, Joseph weeps uncontrllably before them and reveals to them: I AM JOSEPH! He then preaches a message of hope to them - 'Dont be afraid, God is Sovereign, He has a plan and this situation that occurred years ago, they are the very footprints of His steps!' It would would have been amazing to zoom the comera on the faces of all concerned.
The sovereignty of God, WHEN FULLY EMBRACED, takes away the hurt and setbacks we experienced in getting where we are today. My own journey included: Being left by my parents from the age of 4/ adjusting to a new family and cultural setting/ growing up engulfed by family and friends different from me physically and culturally/ experiencing many academic failures (in their eyes)/ labelled a 'failure' to the family at my 21st/ being persecuted for 7 years on becoming a christian/ going through the muddy waters of separation and divorce/ experiencing loss of direction with ministry and yet I can sit with Joseph and truly say, 'It was not you who sent me here, but God' Knowing the Potter is still molding me, the Gardner is still pruning, the Shepherd is still leading; takes away all the fear and anxiety of what comes my way today!
Father, thankyou for the amazing surgery you performed on Joseph. I still see the scars, but I praise you for his life! May I truly bow to Your Sovereignty and look for Your next step in my life.
