Have A Growing Faith

July 17 // 1 Corinthians 8:20-21

Scripture
All these people earned a good reputation because of their faith, yet none of them received all that God had promised. For God had something better in mind for us, so that they would not reach perfection without us. Hebrews 11:39-40
Observation
Paul is encouraging the Hebrew church to have a growing faith. He is using past examples like Enoch, Abraham, and Isaac to show how great was their faith in God. But Paul reminded them that although they had great faith, they did not experience all God want them to. Because their was was not perfect, they could not experienced more of God's power. Paul is teaching the Hebrew church to have a faith that is growing, a faith that trusts God more each day. Paul is teaching the church that their faith needs to be constantly growing in God and to have it get stronger, so that they could have a closer walk with God.
Application
How is my faith in God? Is it growing stronger everyday? The bible says that "without faith it is impossible to please God." So I need to have faith in God and to trust in Him. But my faith cannot always be staying the same, but be growing stronger and deeper as I get more intimate with God. I cannot just believe God for the small things but in the big trials of life also. No matter what I go through in life, my faith has to come to a point where "God said and I believe it!!!" My faith has to come to a point where it is unshakable. God will give me opportunities to grow my faith. I will have a growing faith.
Prayer
Heavenly Father thank you for your word. I ask you to help me have a growing faith. Help my faith to grow stronger each day. I will trust in you in my life. In Jesus name. Amen.
