No Confidence in Your Accomplishments

June 13 // 1 Corinthians 8:20-21

Philippians 3:7 But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.
Preceding this scripture, Paul talks about why he has reasons to have confidence in his flesh. He talks about his credentials and accomplishments, which in that day I imagine were very impressive, however he now considers his accomplishments as rubbish, of no meaning, of loss compared to knowing Christ. Paul realized that neither his accomplishments nor his credentials could save him. Only faith in Jesus Christ produces righteousness of God. For years I too placed a lot of confidence in my flesh, in my accomplishments and credentials, and the continual pursuit of climbing the corporate ladder. I now count it all loss, and although I am at home raising my 4 children now, I am able to focus totally on God's plan for my life.
Continue to trust in God through faith, I put no confidence in the things I have accomplished, only in Christ Jesus
Lord God, empower your servant to choose righteousness throught faith in your son Jesus Christ which produces true righteousness. Not to place any confidence in my flesh and accomplishments which only produces a false righteousness of the law.
