We Must Not Shilly-Shally

December 1 // 1 Corinthians 8:20-21

“Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 5:1

“Yet, with respect to the promise of God, he did not waver in unbelief but grew strong in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully assured that what God had promised, He was able to perform.” Romans 4: 20, 21
The Apostle Paul points out that faith CAN be seen in a life that does not waver in unbelief. Looking back at the life of Abraham we see a manifestation of faith in action. If we want our faith to grow, Paul gives us a clue in to Abraham’s success, “he did not waver in unbelief but grew strong in faith.”(4. v.20) The key to growing in faith than, is fighting and overcoming the battle of unbelief.
I love to pray. Once in a while, I get a prayer request from someone asking for an increase of faith. A very good request, but, I have always wondered what God thinks about that prayer? I don’t think its that simple… Otherwise, if it were possible to increase our faith by a simple prayer, most of us would be moving more mountains…

One way, I do it, is to not allow the cares of this world to steal my joy, or take my eyes off of Christ. When I fight my way through the temptation to give in to discouragement (faith stealer) I win. When I don’t fight the temptation, I lose.

Winning is really awesome isn't it! Who doesn’t like to win? A lesson the Lord has taught me through trial and err is this, when we fight in faith and win against the things of the flesh, such as, discouragement, doubt, fear and selflessness, our reward, is increased faith! Each time I fight and win, the struggle of my flesh becomes weaker. God helps me SEE more clearly, and when I can SEE what God is doing around me my faith is increased. Not a bad reward for fighting the fight! We must never forget we’re in a battle, and that battle rages daily for our faith. Don’t lose sight! If you will fight You will win!

Thank you for the victory we have in Christ! Grant us grace to fight the good fight of faith, daily, rewarding us with an increase of faith. Thank you for all you have done and what you are going to do! May our lives manifest an unwavering faith, giving glory to God.
