"My Greatest Need"

August 5 // 1 Corinthians 8:20-21

“Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, ‘If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink.” John 7: 37

Controversy surrounded Jesus. In fact, his very presence stirred the crowd to question and challenge him everywhere he went. Seizing the opportunity, he takes a well known tradition and uses it to draw the people out-of-themselves; thus, calling attention to their deepest thirst… Their need for Him.

Its so easy to forget just how needy I am. And, its not until my soul become overwhelmed that I once again remember… Wow, I’m not as strong as I thought I was!

I have found that when people are stirred by the Holy Spirit questions and challenges arise. This is good, as long as I remember first and foremost to take them to the one who can meet their deepest need. Christ alone.

The Lord has been graciously teaching me this lesson repeatedly for several years. I have come to realize my greatest need is for a constant flow of His Spirit in my daily walk. Without it, I’m no match against my own weaknesses. When we practice the presence of God on a daily bases the contrast becomes shocking. Until, we are SICK of who we are in the flesh we will remain the same. But, the good news is… We don’t have to settle for less. He is willing to freshly fill us each day, if only we will drink in and become saturated with His presence.

Lord, thank you for the everlasting flow of your Holy Spirit. He is without a doubt my joy and strength! He calms the storms that rage around me and gives me rest. Remind us daily to be filled with Him, so in return, we can meet the needs of those around us in the power of your strength. Without you we can do nothing,

With all my heart, I love you!
