"You hypocrites, rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you:
THIS PEOPLE HONORS ME WITH THEIR LIPS, BUT THEIR HEART IS FAR AWAY FROM ME. BUT IN VAIN DO THEY WORSHIP ME,
TEACHING AS DOCTRINES THE PRECEPTS OF MEN.'" After Jesus called the crowd to Him, He said to them, "Hear and understand. It is not what enters into the mouth that defiles the man, but what proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man." Matthew 15:7-11
Jesus is rebuking the religious leaders. He is telling them that they worship God with their lips and not their hearts. It seems that the religious leaders knew about God's word, but their hearts was far from God. Jesus is also teaching the religious leaders that it not what goes in a person's mouth that defiles a person, it is what comes out of a person's mouth that defiles a person. It is what a person's says that brings disgrace to him and God. Jesus is teaching that our words says a lot about who we are, our character, personality, beliefs, thoughts, and walk with God. God is teaching that when we worship God with our heart first, then our words will match with what is in our inside. We have to watch what comes out of our mouth.
Do I worship God with all of my heart? How are my words? I have to always make sure that I am worshiping with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength. I have to worship God with my all and till there is nothing left. My heart has to match my words. I have to realize that my words say a lot about who I am and if I want to honor God, it stars with my words. I have to say positive and encouraging words, so that I can build God's people and those who need to know God's love. The first place people will look at is what comes out of my mouth, to see if my walk with God is authentic.
Heavenly Father thank you for your word. I ask you to help me to worship you with all my heart, soul, mind and strength. Help me to make sure that my words honors you and helps others. Let my heart match my words. In Jesus name. Amen.
