John 18:38 "What is truth?" Pilate asked. With this he went out again to the Jews and said, "I find no basis for a charge against him.
Just as the Romans and Jewish elite tended to do, this verse captures the secular world's view of salvation. Actually, it all too often seems to be an excuse that allows us to do what we want to do and believe how we want to believe instead of just asking the question, "what would Jesus do." Instead, we tend to hide behind conjecture and this concept that truth is whatever someone believes it is when indeed Jesus told us "I am the truth, light and way.
Every day I must be diligent in staying away from the idea that everyone has the right to their opinion therefore there is no right or wrong way to salvation and this concept that the only requirement is to believe. Nothing could be further from the real truth. God has spoke to us on every subject and we only have to be diligent and wise enough to listen to his message and model our life after his. And, in all of these areas where we believe there is "grey" area, we should use the following test: "What would Christ do" and then follow that example.
Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for my salvation and for giving your life so I might live. Thank you for living the life of example so when I am in doubt on what I must do I only have to seek out your living example and follow suit. Dear Lord, I ask you for your strength and wisdom to live my life according to your word and use my talents to further your kingdom. Lord Jesus, watch after my family, keep us safe and healthy and bless me in ways only you can, if it be your will. Lord, forgive me of my sins so one day I might live with you. All of this I ask in your Holy name, AMEN.
