Think On The Good Things

June 17 // 1 Corinthians 8:20-21

Scripture
Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:8-9
Observation
Paul is giving the church the secret of having peace in their lives. It all starts in the mind and how they thought. Paul knew that the mind is a powerful think and how our thoughts control our emotions, it can make us feel good one minute and then Bad the next. Then our emotions plays into what we do and say, our behaviors and choices all come on how we feel. Paul is teaching the church to not buy into the lies of the devil, but to tell themselves the truth. The church needed to stop thinking on the bad side, and start thinking on the bright side. To see God and the good in every situation, to put God's word in their mind. Once they did this, their emotions will follow. We have to stop thinking bad and start thinking God.
Application
Where does my mind go? Often times it is in bad and negative thought, that put me in a fearful and depressed state. I have to fill my mind with the word of God and His promises, even if I have memorize scriptures. I know they will help me think positive thoughts. The more I put lies in my head, the more negatives thoughts I have; the more negatives feeling I get. I must realize that every lie, every negative thought comes from satan. And all he wants is to destroy me. If I want peace in my life, it starts by putting God in my mind and dwelling on Him.
Prayer
Jesus, thank you for your word. I ask you to help me to put you, your word, and your promises in my mind. Help me to have your peace in my life, by thinking godly thoughts. In Jesus name. Amen.
