ďI know that you can do all things, And that no purpose of yours can be thwarted.Who is this that hides council without knowledge?Ē
Job 42: 2,3
How important is it that we understand our God? In this chapter we find out how God feels about our assumptions and hasty judgments. When we presume to know the heart of man or the heart of God and speak out things we should not speak, we lack the integrity needed to defeat the enemy.
Allow me to give a short recap. Job, our man of integrity, is caught in the middle of a spiritual feud between God and satan. After many moons of suffering, the lost of children, livestock, and a healthy body, Job finds himself left with a wife who has no wisdom and friends who have no brains, heart, or courage.(somewhere over the rainbow?) And if that is not enough he feels separated from the only true love of his life, and he doesnít know what he did to deserve it.
God comes onto the scene and reminds everyone whoís in control. Where were you when I made the really big animalsÖ? Speechless.
The moral of the story I must ask myself is this, whose in control of my life, my situations and my future? Easy; not me! When I think Iím in control or need control, I lose focus. I forget who I am and call God a liar, thinking I need to handle things. What Iím really doing is looking out for my own self interest. Trying to save my life so I donít lose it or look stupid in front of others.
My faith teaches me to rest. When Iím resting in Him something amazing happens. I start to understand Godís desire for my life and future now. No stress equals understanding or discernment and I find He fills me in with all I need to know. Faith = Trust = Rest. He wonít have it any other way, so either I get on board, or stand in a place where Jobís friends found themselves, needing an intercessor.
ďThe Lord restored the fortunes of Job when he prayed for his friends, and the Lord increased all that Job had twofold.Ē
Help me not to lose my mind and think Iím in control. For laying down the need to know has opened up the doorway of communication between you and I that Iíve always desired. Thank you for looking out for me and giving me rest about my future. I know everything will be made clear in your time. Bless my leaders and let them know you are looking out for their best!
In Jesus name,
