October 24 // 1 Corinthians 8:20-21

Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity. 1 Timothy 4:12
Timothy was a young pastor. Apparently, some thought he was too young. But his mentor, the Apostle Paul, didn't agree. He wrote Timothy a letter, advising and encouraging himóreminding him that God had given Timothy unique gifts and a unique place to fill in the Father's plan. He called Timothy to be an example.
Each of us faces our own "discouragers" every day. Voices around us try to convince us we can't do it. We're too young, too old, too shy, too uneducated, too disabled. We can't glorify God in the spot where He's placed us. But the message to us is the same as to Timothy: "Don't see your circumstance as a disadvantage. You can still speak and live with love, faith, and purity. Be an example!"
Heavenly Father,
Open our eyes to the specific work you had in mind for us, when you made us each in our unique way. Teach us how to glorify you, using even those things that some might call disadvantages. Thank you that we can do all things, through the power of your Spirit.
