Being Empty Of Me

June 16 // 1 Corinthians 8:20-21

Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Philippians 2:5-8
Paul is encouraging the church of Philippi to be more like Christ. To not be full of pride to put others higher than themselves. Paul is teaching that Jesus can as a servant to die for man. And to do this takes humility. Paul teaches that Jesus emptied Himself of Him and allowed the love of God to fill Him. Paul knew that in order to do the will of God, He had to empty Himself of Him and allow God to live and move in Him. Paul is teaching the church that they could be full of themselves or be full of God.
Am I full of God or myself? I need to realize that if I want to grow and mature in Christ, I have to empty myself of me and be filled with the Holy Spirit. I must be empty of myself and be full of God. I have to learn to walk in the Spirit and walk with God daily. Obeying Him and pleasing Him in my life. I must decrease so God can increase in my life. I have to be empty of me and be full of God. I have to spend time with God daily in His word and in prayer. I will be full of God.
Jesus, thank you for your word. I ask you to help me be empty of me and be full of you. Help me to walk in the Spirit and walk with you daily. In Jesus name. Amen
