A Song of Ascension

November 1 // 1 Corinthians 8:20-21

Scripture

I will lift up my eyes to the mountains; From where shall my help come from? Ps. 121:1
Observation

Although, the author and circumstances of this psalm are unknown one single fact rings loudly; Our invisible God is close at hand. This type of song, Israel sang on their way to Jerusalem, similar to our weekly trek to church only they made the trek less often. It was a song used to prepare the heart and make ready to meet with God.

One so worthy of our time and devotion deserves more than a few minutes of our day, an hour or two each week at church, but how?

Application

How do we give our whole heart, mind, soul and strength to anyone? This question has lead my life for many years up until now. Tho simple to ask this question I found difficult to answer, even more so to live out. I do admit, what once tormented my soul in longing for, I now realize, I do not need such affections to live. Time, has a way when we have learned patience, to show us truth that we thought other wise. I have learn as the Apostle Paul once said, to be content with abundance and with need. For in that contentment I have found Gods presence great, learning, He truly does and IS capable of meeting all my needs: spiritual, emotional, and physical. So, its only now after great search and suffering I have come to understand with this unknown Psalmist, the reason he lifts his eyes!

Prayer

O Lord,
To you alone.. Thank you for the lessons learned, though I now wish I had not been so stubborn in my discoveries, making things so much harder on myself than need be. Nevertheless, to you be all the glory!!! I feel like this is a new day, a new start, a journey I will make with new sight and understanding, a trek unburdened now, knowing from where my help comes from.

Lovingly Yours,
Gail
